We are so close to everything you will need

All the local amenities you need are pretty much on your doorstep when you stay at Tides Door. Here are just a few examples with estimated walking distances.

Ferries

There are three main ferries that take you across the river. The Upper Ferry which takes you over to Paignton (passengers and cars), the Lower Ferry which takes you to the bottom end of Kingswear (passengers and cars) and then the North Embankment Ferry which takes you to Kingwear (passengers only).

If you fancy a trip to Dittisham, the you can climb aboard The Original Dittisham Ferry; The Sandpiper.

Ferry tickets can be purchased when you get on board where you typically get a return ticket however, if you are going to be using the ferry a lot, be sure to ask about the multi-trip ticket price.

Train Station

The closest train station to Dartmouth is Totnes which is accessible by trains coming in from Lodnon or Birmingham. Trips on to Dartmouth can then be made by bus, taxi, car or boat down the River Dart.

If you fancy something a little different, you can opt to take the Dartmouth Steam Railway from Paignton. It runs for seven miles in Great Western tradition along the spectacular Torbay coast to Goodrington Sands, Churston and through the wooded slopes bordering the Dart estuary and on to Kingswear.

Car Parking

Park can be a bit of a nightmare especially in high season but if you stay with us at Tides Door Dartmouth, you will be given a parking permit. Please note that this doesn’t guarentee you a parking space but it will not cost you anything once you get one. The parking permit can be used in all the car parks in South Hams too!

Supermarkets

In Dartmouth itself, there is an M&S Outlet and a Co-op all conveniently situation just a couple of minutes from Tides Door. If you are looking for a larger supermarket, there is a Sainsbury’s just outside of town which is only a 6 minute drive away.
